The Perkins Bacon Archive

The RPSL purchased the records of the Perkins Bacon security printing company in the 1930s, when the firm collapsed. Perkins Bacon (PB) are best known for printing the famous Penny Black but postage stamps were only about 5% of their business. PB’s primary business was UK regional banks (printing bank notes, cheques etc.) but they also produced company and personal letter heads and business cards amongst other things.

The Hardening Books

The six Hardening Books have been scanned and converted to a pdf (bookmarks have been added for the start of each year). It is intended to eventually develop an index.

The Engraving Books

The RPSL, in partnership with The Arts Society are working through the 17 engraving books, adding keywords for each page (over 3,000) which are searchable to provide a finding aid for information. So far, the first four books have been completed.
